Several new shows like "V" and "Human Target" were showcased to overseas buyers this past week. NBC Universal was quick to snatch up the rights to Human Target. This means for the Target fans in the UK that the show will be airing on Sci-Fi UK. A benefit on one hand for the fans who are eager to see the new show right away without the usual delay in airing schedules from their American counterparts. However for those hoping to see it on free-to-air networks, the local channels did not stand much of a chance in the bidding war with the international company.
As reported by Variety Sci-Fi UK has been revamping their network to keep up with the oversees demands for new content.
Laurence Dawkin-Jones, U.K. managing director of NBC U Global Networks, called the deal "evidence of a step change in our investment in new content. These are some of the most talked-about shows to come out of the L.A. Screenings this year."
Human Target will air in the UK next year, but as of now no premiere date has been set.
